Infected by the pioneering spirit of the 1950s, tool maker Fritz Weber founded the company Fritz Weber Feinmechanik und Werkzeugbau. Driven by the power of innovation and his own tenacity, Fritz Weber has continuously added to the company's product portfolio. In 1972, he optimized what was, until then, known as the collet chuck. He called his model the ER collet chuck with R acting as a synonym for Rego-Fix. Weber's innovations have greatly influenced the advancement of tool clamping technology and his company has become famous worldwide. In 1993, the ER collet chuck was standardized as the German industrial norm (DIN 6499). Accordingly, the term ER collet chuck became a standard name for the world's top-selling tool clamping system.
