Richmond Heritage Federal Credit Union was founded as a “self-help” not-for-profit organization during the Great Depression in 1936 by ten educators. They recognized the need for access to economic resources not offered to African-Americans by traditional financial institutions at that time. Richmond Heritage has grown into a multi-million dollar credit union, owned and operated by its members who proudly continue the founders’ pay-it-forward values.
