Roots of Peace is a San Rafael-based nonprofit that seeks to restore economic vitality in post-conflict regions by creating livelihood opportunities. The organization supports communities to revitalize businesses and livelihoods by removing reminders of conflict, improving farming methods, and facilitating market linkages. Its programs have reached more than a million farmers and their families in Afghanistan, Vietnam, Croatia, Israel, and the West Bank. The nonprofit serves people and communities rebuilding in post-conflict economies, addressing challenges such as economic disruption and damaged agricultural livelihoods. In 2024 it expanded collaborations with Rotary International to support Ukrainian winemakers, and later that year launched the White Rose for Peace initiative to encourage acts of hope.
