Ruby Radio started in 2002 in Elko, NV with only a construction permit. From that we built Mix 96.7 (KHIX-FM), the #1 station in the market for 12 years running. Since then we’ve added BIG Country 103.9 and KZBi-FM News Talk, #1 among Men 18+. Through some technical know-how, we've added two additional stations in Elko as HD signals: 101.1 Coyote FM which plays classic rock, and ez107.7, Elko's Lite Rock. Recognizing how the community is changing, Ruby Radio added the area's first Spanish language station in August 2015, Juan 100.5 FM in HD. Eastlan ratings indicate we reach 86% of all residents in Elko and its surrounding area between ages 25-54. In 2013, Ruby Radio expanded west to Winnemucca, NV with Mix 102.7 FM, and now covers over 300 miles along Interstate 80 from Lovelock to the Utah border. The following year we added BIG Country 94.3 FM. In 2015 both stations sold to Nomadic Broadcasting. Our President, Ken Sutherland, has been in radio as a disc jockey, program director, salesperson, General Manager and owner for 45+ years.
