Almost 20 years ago, Jonathan Toker noticed a problem. So, like many entrepreneurs, he created the solution himself: SaltStick. As a professional athlete and heavy sweater, Jonathan needed to replenish electrolytes during his training sessions.

Jonathan's day job as a Ph.D. chemist gave him access to the latest medical literature on hydration. Science showed most people's sweat contains a similar ratio of electrolytes across sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium.

But when he compared the electrolyte breakdown of products on the market, he realized none of them delivered this ratio. Some options had too much potassium, while others didn't have enough. Others didn't contain crucial minerals like calcium and magnesium.

Not to mention, sports drinks were too bulky to carry around, and powders were messy. So, he created the fastest and most convenient way to replace electrolytes on the go.
