The San Juan Islands exist at the intersection of a vast network of waters that comprise the Salish Sea. Here, every landscape tells a story and every plant and animal forms a link in an intricate system. These islands offer refuge to a breathtaking web of life, renew the human spirit seeking a timeless connection to place, and support a vibrant community of farms, neighborhoods, working forests, and thriving businesses.

Our purpose is to conserve and care for this remarkable place, now and forever. 

We conserve land permanently, care for it through active stewardship, and connect people to the wild places that sustain it. From healthy shorelines and eelgrass beds to Garry oak meadows and working forests, more than 19,000 acres across 22 islands are now permanently protected and the work continues.
