Cantine San Marzano nasce come cooperativa nel 1962 dalla unione di 19 vignaioli di San Marzano di San Giuseppe. Mani esperte legate alla cultura contadina, alle ritualità agrarie, ai valori della campagna pugliese che si unirono per valorizzare al meglio il proprio territorio.
Oggi è una realtà che conta circa 1.200 viticultori per oltre 1.500 ettari di vigneto ed è divenuta leader del settore vitivinicolo pugliese. 
La zona di produzione è l'area Dop del Primitivo di Manduria, dove le felici condizioni di suolo e clima consentono a vigne e ulivi di vivere in simbiosi, a cavallo di due mari: Ionio e Adriatico. Una zona, nelle province di Taranto e Brindisi, che si estende dall'arco Jonico alla base delle Murge, fino ad arrivare alla Fossa Bradanica lambendo il Salento Nord Occidentale. 
San Marzano è la cantina emblema di un modo unico di concepire il vino in Puglia che trova le sue origini in due valori: rispetto e modernità. 
Rispetto per una tradizione che ha radici antichissime e rivive oggi nello sguardo, nelle mani e nel lavoro dei viticultori che ne sono parte.
