The business began in May 2004 as Dixie Electric Supply in Greenwood, Mississippi, expanding to Oxford, Mississippi and Alexandria, Louisiana, and relocating its headquarters to Meridian, Mississippi in 2008 with a name change. Today it operates seventeen stores across Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida.

In August 2023, Sequel Electrical Supply was acquired by Border States and now operates as the Gulf States Area division of that Fargo, North Dakota–based distributor. Earlier recognition by Electrical Wholesaling magazine in 2018 named it among the top 200 electrical distributors in the United States.
