Shakespeare's Globe is a prominent performing arts institution in London that operates two venues on the riverbank: the open-air Globe Theatre and the candlelit Sam Wanamaker Playhouse. Founded by Sam Wanamaker, the organization sustains Shakespeare’s legacy through an experimental staging approach that mirrors historic theatre conditions and aims to make Shakespeare accessible to diverse audiences. It functions as a theatre, education center, and cultural landmark, using performance to spark curiosity and learning. The education department offers workshops, public events, university courses, and community projects, with guided tours described as award-winning, and visitors can explore the on-site and online shop. Shakespeare's Globe is a registered charity that has operated independently since its opening in 1997, and it is based in London, England. In 2026, the organization appointed Lottie Birdsall-Strong to a new social impact-focused role.
