The South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism (SCPRT) is a cabinet agency assigned to operate and manage South Carolina’s 47 state parks, to market the state as a preferred vacation destination and to provide assistance to communities for parks, recreation and tourism development and promotion. The agency is perhaps most widely recognized for its leadership role in promoting and supporting South Carolina’s number one industry – tourism.

Growing South Carolina’s economy by fostering sustainable tourism economic development and effectively marketing our state to increase visitation and improve the quality of life for all South Carolinians.

With more than 80,000 acres of protected lands from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the sand dunes of the Atlantic, South Carolina State Parks protect some of the most inviting natural, cultural and recreational destinations in the US. At the South Carolina State Parks, you’ll find the best boating, mountain biking, horseback riding, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, hiking and history in South Carolina.  The State Parks feature cabins, villas, campgrounds, picnic areas, meeting rooms and even equestrian stables.
