In 2013, the former South Georgia College and former Waycross College merged to create what is now SGSC. Beautiful historic location in Southeast Georgia. Multi-campus institution with 15 counties in the service area. Class sizes small enough to make you feel like you belong to a community of learners. At SGSC, find yourself among a close-knit population of approximately 2,500 students, drawn from 22 other states, as well as 13 countries. The tree-lined Douglas campus features 190 landscaped acres and includes a blend of well-maintained classroom and residential space with open green areas suitable for student gatherings. The Waycross campus features 150 acres of wooded land and includes three academic buildings, two lakes, and a walking trail. Both campuses have facilities which are home to the SGSC Hawks athletic teams. The intercollegiate athletics program has a rich heritage in both Douglas and Waycross, drawing athletes from throughout Georgia as well as other states and countries. The athletic program includes baseball, softball, women’s soccer, men’s and women’s swimming, men’s and women’s cross country, and men’s basketball (Waycross campus).
