The Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative is a farmer-owned sugar producer in the Food and Beverage Manufacturing industry, founded in 1972 and based in Renville, Minnesota. It is owned by more than 500 shareholder growers and produces beet sugar from sugar beets. The cooperative produces all-natural granulated sugar and liquid sugar, and sells refined sugar in bulk as well as in 50-pound bags and super-sacks up to 2,000 pounds. It holds Safe Quality Food (SQF) Level 2 certification. The company employs approximately 360 people, including about 300 full-time benefit-rated staff and around 400 seasonal workers during harvest. Lukas Rust was named president and chief executive officer on March 12, 2026, and Spreckels Sugar Company, Inc. is listed as a subsidiary.
