Spotted’s unique approach to assessing and pricing Film & TV risk led Insurance Journal and Insurance Insider to name Spotted “a new kind of specialty underwriter” and “an underwriter that uses newer and advanced risk assessment methods.”

SpottedRisk is a specialty Film & TV MGA that launched in 2019, leveraging Spotted Media’s company’s origins as an analytics provider to the Media & Entertainment space. A core Spotted strength is the ability to quickly develop new, unique insurance products to address emerging risks. When future exposures inevitably arise, Spotted will capture increased market share through its nimble, solutions-oriented approach. SpottedRisk deploys internally-developed technology to identify market dislocations and then utilizes a blended team of data scientists and senior entertainment underwriters to analyze the risk, develop insurance products, and bring those products to market.

In 2020, Spotted purchased Media Guarantors, a leading completion bond company focused on the Film space, from leading entertainment payroll provider Cast & Crew. Similar to a construction bond, a Film bond guarantees the project will be completed on time, within budget and to the technical specifications of each of the production's distributors. Media Guarantors is the only bond company globally to be able to issue a "clean bond" without any Covid or communicable disease exclusions. Executives include the prior Head of Global Production from Miramax, the Head of Global Production from DreamWorks, and the VP of Production from Disney. Media Guarantors bonded One Thousand and One, the Grand Jury Prize winner at Sundance, January 2023.
