Swiss Medtech is the national association for Swiss medical technology, representing more than 800 companies in the medical equipment manufacturing sector and based in Bern, Switzerland. The industry employs more than 70,000 people and accounts for 11.9% of Switzerland's positive trade balance, highlighting its economic significance. The organization was established in the summer of 2017 after a merger and is headquartered in Bern. Its mission centers on representing and promoting the interests of the Swiss medical technology industry, fostering an environment that supports innovation, start-ups, and the competitiveness of member companies, and serving as the primary point of contact for industry matters. It operates within a European context as a member of MedTech Europe and works with policymakers and other actors to reflect member interests in decision-making and to promote industry networking. A notable development in recent years was the 2022 expansion into Italian-speaking Switzerland with the establishment of Swiss Medtech Ticino.
