Sydney Film Festival (SFF) is one of the longest-running film festivals in the world, screening narrative feature films, documentaries and short films over 12 days and nights. The Festival takes place at SFF’s flagship venue the State Theatre, as well as cinemas in the CBD, Newtown, Cremorne and more. In 2019 SFF showcased over 250 films across 500+ sessions. Twelve films are selected for the Official Competition, which celebrates “courageous, audacious and cutting-edge” cinema with a $60,000 cash prize. Several other cash awards are presented over the course of the Festival. SFF also runs the Travelling Film Festival year-round, taking the best of international and Australian cinema to regional centres around the country.
