Tarrant Appraisal District (TAD) is a Texas political subdivision created in 1980 to oversee local property tax appraisal and exemption administration within Tarrant County. It is governed by a five-member Board of Directors appointed by taxing units in the county, with the Tarrant County assessor-collector serving as a nonvoting member, and the Chief Appraiser leading the district. Based in Fort Worth, TAD determines property values for seventy-three taxing jurisdictions and administers exemptions for homeowners, seniors, disabled persons, disabled veterans, and charitable or religious organizations. Its primary customers are the local taxing units and property owners who rely on appraisals to calculate annual tax burdens. In March 2024, the district launched a new appraisal district website to improve access for stakeholders.
