The Carr Center is a small performing arts organization based in Detroit, Michigan, that serves as a gathering place for artists across disciplines and the local community. It operates through three core initiatives: Carr Center Presents, which brings performing and visual arts to metro-Detroit with multi-disciplinary programs featuring national, regional, and local artists; the Carr Center Arts Academy, which provides arts education and training in instrumental music, dance, and musical theatre; and Carr Center Contemporary, which houses a visual arts gallery and a performance studio opened in 2021 for non-traditional venues and multidisciplinary work. The Academy also hosts professional development programs for early career artists, including the Independent Scholars Fellowship and The Gathering Orchestra. The organization serves youth through the Detroit Public Schools system and maintains partnerships beyond traditional arts presenting. A notable recent development is the November 2023 launch of the Global LGBTQI+ Human Rights Program. The organization has also engaged in collaborations such as a television partnership with Detroit's ACE Office in 2022.
