The Incredible Christmas Place was founded as a family business by Hurshel and Marian Biggs in 1986. The Bavarian-style shopping village has since become known as one of the top Christmas and collectible stores in the U.S., and the largest in the South. This premier success story began as a small gift shop near the historic Old Mill in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Since its humble beginning, Christmas Place has grown to a multi-store complex of over 35,000 square feet, delighting customers at every turn. It is currently managed by the third family generation. Over the years, Christmas Place has been honored for merchandising and decorating achievements. Among its awards is "NOEL Retailer of the Year" for a Specialty Store. This annual award recognizes a company that has achieved outstanding growth and performance through excellence in merchandising Christmas products. It also recognizes significant contributions to the Christmas Decoration Industry. Christmas Place has won many awards from the city of Pigeon Forge in recognition of its indoor, outdoor and window decorating expertise in seasonal city-sponsored decorating contests. Because of the incredible year-round beauty of its themed-trees and displays, the Incredible Christmas Place has been chosen as the setting for numerous TV specials and magazine features through the years. In 2007, the store extended their presence with the opening of The Inn at Christmas Place directly across the parkway from the store. This 145-room Christmas-themed hotel has become the #1 hotel in Pigeon Forge, and has four times won a coveted spot on TripAdvisor's Travelers' Choice Top 25 U.S. Hotels annual listings; in 2011, 2012, and 2014, and most recently in 2017 The Inn at Christmas Place was honored as a Top 25 U.S. Hotel for Service. The year-round focus of both properties on Christmas has proven a consistently successful model in this family-oriented tourist community located near the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
