The Gretchen S. Vapnar Community Crisis Center, based in Elgin, Illinois, was founded in 1975 by volunteers to address crisis-related needs for individuals and families. In October 2025, the Elgin Development Group partnered with the Community Crisis Center to educate students about healthy relationships and warning signs of abuse.
