The Guidance Center in Long Beach is a mid-sized nonprofit in mental health care that serves disadvantaged children and families. Since 1946, it has provided comprehensive mental health treatment designed to help clients achieve healthier and more stable lives. Headquartered in Long Beach, the organization serves the surrounding communities of Compton, Greater Long Beach, Lynwood, Paramount, San Pedro, and Avalon on Catalina Island. The center supports clients through on-site school engagement, with staff meeting students on campuses within Long Beach, Los Angeles, Paramount, and Lynwood Unified School Districts and coordinating care plans with Miller Children’s and Women’s Hospital. Family counseling is provided at Century Villages at Cabrillo and other community sites. It also participates in local collaborations as a founding member of the Long Beach Safety Net Collaborative and in the Long Beach Human Trafficking Task Force; in 2025 it participated in Long Beach Gives, underscoring ongoing community involvement.
