The Millennium Project is an independent non-profit think tank that conducts global futures research by bringing together futurists, scholars, business planners, and policy makers who work with international organizations, governments, corporations, NGOs, and universities. It runs a participatory process that has gathered judgments from more than 3,500 people through a global network of more than 70 nodes, with its work published in the annual State of the Future, the Futures Research Methodology series, and various special studies. The project traces its origins to 1996, following a three-year feasibility study conducted with the United Nations University, Smithsonian Institution, Futures Group International, and the American Council for the UNU.
