Founded in 1966 and based in Chicago, Illinois, the World Future Society is a civic and social organization described as the largest and longest-running community of futurists and future thinkers. Its early influence arose through publications, global summits, and advisory roles to leaders in business and government, with historical members that include Buckminster Fuller, Gene Roddenberry, and Margaret Mead. In 2018, the organization reconstituted itself as World Future Society Presents LLC d/b/a World Future Society, a Delaware limited liability company. It continues to host a community that brings together futurists, visionaries, and builders to discuss, question, and collaborate on pathways to the future. The network accommodates voices from curious students to long-time practitioners within its futures ecosystem.
