The Mind Embodied/Scott Church provides sex therapy and relationship/couple counseling in Denver and Boulder, Colorado. Counseling services include working with: sexual abuse/sexual trauma, compulsive sexual behavior/out of control sexual behavior/sex addiction, gender identity, sexuality, and intimacy. I am a Registered Psychotherapist working towards licensure in the state of Colorado with an M.A. in Contemplative Counseling Psychology from Naropa University. I am drawn to a contemplative approach to psychology because it is oriented around the premise that we are all inherently healthy and able to organize around this intrinsic wellness given the right conditions and support. In addition to my interest in mindfulness-based approaches to working with myself and others, I continue to train in and practice additional modalities, particularly those that integrate the mind and the body. As a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, I have had to engage my own suffering and confusion around sexuality, sex (including compulsive sexual behavior), and my relationships with others. As a result, I deeply relate to this work and bring genuine openness, curiosity, non-judgment, kindness, and compassion to it. I am interested in, welcome, and celebrate diversity in gender, sexuality/sexual orientation, and sexual expression. I am proud to serve those from communities across the spectrum of sexual orientation–straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual, pansexual, queer, asexual, or, if you feel labels cannot quite describe or define you, you; as well as gender identity in all its forms–whether you are a cisgender man or woman, are transgender identified, intersex, or if the binary just is not how you relate. -Scott Church, MA, LPCC http://therapists.psychologytoday.com/242815 The information contained herein is not therapeutic advice nor a substitute for therapy.
