With only 25 employees, Trotter Manufacturing Inc. is considered one of the largest U.S. producer of hydraulic valve spools to off-highway equipment OEMs. The spools control the restriction and flow of high-pressure oil in hydraulic cylinder valves used tractor and construction equipment lines. Skip Trotter, vice president – Operations, likens his products to the processors in a computer. “Our spools are literally the brains of the valve and these products constitute 90% of our shipments.” Trotter Manufacturing Inc. has manufactured valve spools since 1985 and is particularly attentive to the tight tolerances in diameter and cylindricity. We routinely and consistently hold ± 0.00006" – 0.00008" and there are simply no grinding houses in a 500-mile radius that can hold the tolerances we achieve on a daily basis. .
