UNC Greensboro is a learner-centered, public research university with eight colleges and schools offering more than 150 areas of undergraduate and graduate study. UNCG is recognized nationally for helping first-generation and lower-income students achieve paths to prosperity. Located near downtown Greensboro, N.C., the state’s third-largest city, and founded in 1892 as a college for women, UNCG is one of the original three institutions that formed the UNC System in 1932. The University began admitting men in 1964. Today, UNCG is one of the most diverse universities in the state, comprising almost 19,000 students and more than 2,600 faculty. It is a high-research, community-engaged doctoral university as classified by the Carnegie Foundation with recognized strengths in health and wellness, the arts and sciences, nursing, business, and education.
