La storia di Unicomm inizia nel 1948 a Schio, con la nascita dell’ingrosso alimentare di Antonio Cestaro. Nel 1964 l’azienda aderisce ad A&O e già nel 1968 assieme ai figli Marcello e Mario viene costituita Unicomm.

Nel 1970, l’apertura a Vicenza del primo supermercato A&O segna l’ingresso dell’azienda nel dettaglio diretto. Negli anni ’80 la realizzazione dei primi supermercati Famila, mentre nel 1993 il primo di una lunga serie di centri commerciali. Nel 1985 iniziano le diverse acquisizioni, che portano il Gruppo Unicomm a contare su oltre 7.000 dipendenti in 7 regioni e 32 provincie.

Quella di Arca è una storia iniziata nel 1972, quando alcuni grossisti della Romagna, decisero di costituire un gruppo integrato. Per aumentare la loro forza contrattuale nei confronti dell’industria, trasferendone i benefici ad una vasta rete di rivenditori al dettaglio. All’inizio degli anni ’80, con l’ingresso nel Gruppo Selex, Arca rafforza il suo posizionamento nell’ingrosso alimentare. Dovranno passare altri 10 anni, per assistere allo sviluppo dei primi supermercati con le insegne Super A&O, Famila e Svelto A&O. Oggi Arca conta più di 90 supermercati e 13 cash&carry.
