Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) is Malaysia's 17th public university and approved by the Malaysian Cabinet in May 2001 and is one of four technical universities in Malaysia. UniMAP started off as Kolej Universiti Kejuruteraan Utara Malaysia (KUKUM), focusing on engineering study programmes with industrial skills preferred by the industry. The University also offers unique support programmes to assist students to excel not only in their academic endeavours and but also in their campus life. The University offers study programmes in Ph.D, Masters degrees as well as undergraduate and diploma programmes and in February 2007, it was re-branded as Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP). UniMAP was established to focus on electronics, and now covers Engineering, Engineering Technology as well as Technology study programmes. It has been our vision to be able to offer students with a range of programmes highly relevant to industry. Most of the Engineering and Technology study programmes at UniMAP have electronic-based focus. However, both basic and applied studies in other fields that support the advancements in engineering and technology are also actively pursued here. In addition, International Business, Engineering Entrepreneurship and an MBA in Engineering Management are also on offer. UniMAP has three main campuses, namely the Pauh Putra Nature Campus, Unicity Nature Campus, as well as Kangar City Campus. UniMAP consists of six Faculties, in which five focus on broad Engineering and Technology Disciplines along with the Faculty of Humanities & Applied Sciences. At the moment, apart from the postgraduate studies, UniMAP offers a total of 36 undergraduates and six diploma study programmes and as of 2021 hosts 12,884 students. UniMAP graduates are nurtured to become competent practitioners in their areas of specialized fields of study.
