V-Empower, Inc. – A Journey of Innovation, Resilience, and Impact Founded in 2000 by its visionary founder and two cousins, V-Empower, Inc. was born in the aftermath of the dot-com crash. Starting with just six developers, the team pioneered one of its first innovations—StateDemocracy.com, a platform designed to connect citizens with their elected officials. Over the past 25 years, V-Empower has crafted numerous groundbreaking products, some ahead of their time. In 2004, the company expanded into service offerings, leveraging its product development expertise. As a subcontractor for Votenet, V-Empower played a key role in developing technology for Howard Dean's presidential campaign and provided vital privacy and application security services for Microsoft. Despite the company’s growth, V-Empower faced the economic challenges of 2008’s deep recession. Revenues dropped from $5.4 million in 2006 to just $210,000 in 2010. During this period, the company was forced to sell off several applications for a fraction of their value. Yet, through strategic foresight and resilience, V-Empower chose not to focus solely on expanding its consulting services. Instead, the company doubled down on its mission of building impactful solutions and continued to innovate, even during difficult times. True to its entrepreneurial roots, V-Empower has consistently nurtured the growth of both its employees and the communities it serves. Over the years, it has proudly supported employees in launching their own ventures, while continuing to develop over 40 unique applications—averaging two new products annually. Philanthropy and corporate social responsibility have always been at the heart of V-Empower’s mission. Over the last two decades, the company has contributed over $600,000 in cash and more than $2 million in-kind to over 90 non-profits worldwide. This commitment has earned V-Empower recognition as one of the top 50 philanthropic companies in the Washington area for several years.
