Watermen Brand, based in Vista, California, operates in the retail apparel and fashion sector, focusing on clothing and gear for water-related activities and public-safety use. The business traces its origins to the 1970s when surfer and lifeguard Ken Miller and his partner Jen began making water trunks in the back of a VW bus, first serving Carlsbad locals and California lifeguards who adopted 36 red shorts. The venture, originally known as Original Watermen, has centered its mission on providing high quality garments with a precise fit and dependable performance.

It has outfitted more than 1,900 organizations, spanning local and state lifeguards, firefighters, and military special forces, illustrating its niche in functional apparel for demanding environments. In February 2023, Original Watermen launched a Lifeguard Swimwear and Apparel catalog, marking a formal expansion of its product line. The company evaluates success by the performance of its products and the satisfaction of its customers.
