John F. & John P. Wenzel Contractors, Inc., established just after World War II, began as a father son operation engaged in residential concrete and blacktop construction. In 1959, they incorporated and in 1969 moved to their original Elmira Heights location. After the flood of 1972 the business grew into one of the major commercial heavy highway contractors in Elmira/Corning area employing as many as 100 employees.

Currently the corporation is a union contractor employing approximately 60 seasonal workers. It is now owned by Mark C. Squires, President; and David W. Squires, Vice President. The grandson's of John F. Wenzel and John P. Wenzel have maintained an impeccable reputation for superior quality and workmanship for over 50 Years.
