Yaddo is a nonprofit retreat for artists and writers based in Saratoga Springs, New York. It supports the creative process by providing artists with an opportunity to work uninterrupted in a supportive environment. The residency program welcomes professional creators across disciplines such as choreography, film, literature, musical composition, painting, performance art, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and video, with applicants applying individually and selections made by panels of peers without regard to financial means. Beyond residencies, Yaddo builds an engaged audience for its resident artists’ work and shares programming, education, and other resources with the local community and beyond, while remaining committed to a sustainable future. In 2026, President Elaina Richardson announced she will step down on December 1 after 25 years of leadership, and a nationwide search for a successor is underway. The organization operates as a small nonprofit with a modest staff based in Saratoga Springs, New York.
