Based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Youth Sentencing & Reentry Project is a nonprofit legal services organization focused on youth prosecuted in the adult criminal justice system. It supports court-appointed attorneys at sentencing and provides ongoing assistance to the youth and their families before, during, and after incarceration. The organization aims to move cases from adult court to the juvenile system where feasible, or to secure shorter, fairer sentences when cases remain in the adult system. Its work integrates advocacy with reentry planning, reflecting a youth-centered approach that seeks better long-term outcomes for the individual child. Its primary constituents are youth facing adult court proceedings, their families, and the court-appointed attorneys who represent them, as well as the broader criminal-justice system actors who engage with sentencing and reentry. In 2019, YSRP partnered with The Kempis Group to support a case through mitigation work, illustrating its collaborative approach.
