Bank Australia is a customer-owned bank based in Collingwood, Victoria, with its head office at 54 Wellington Street and branches across Melbourne and regional Victoria, as well as Brisbane, Canberra and Sydney. The institution traces its history to 1957 as the CSIRO Co-operative Credit Society and became Bank Australia in 2015 after joining more than 70 credit unions and co-operatives. In July 2025, Bank Australia merged with Qudos Bank to form one of Australia's largest customer-owned banks, with more than $17.5 billion in assets, over 900 employees, and about 300,000 members. The bank operates a responsible banking policy, not funding the fossil fuel industry, arms, gambling, tobacco or live animal exports, and directing financing toward everyday customers, the clean energy transition, affordable housing and green investments. It maintains community-focused initiatives, including a 2,117-hectare conservation reserve on Wotjobaluk Country in Western Victoria and partnerships with Environment Victoria and Trust for Nature, with a target of net-zero emissions by 2035.
