Bismarck State College is a public higher education institution located in Bismarck, North Dakota, and it is the state's sole polytechnic college. It provides education, workforce training, and enrichment programs for local and global communities, offering nearly 40 programs leading to certificates, diplomas, or associate degrees, along with liberal arts courses that transfer to four-year colleges. The college also offers 20 online degree programs and two bachelor of applied science degrees—energy management and cybersecurity and information technology—with a third BAS in automation management planned to begin in 2021. The National Energy Center of Excellence at BSC supports energy industry degree and training programs, and the institution has been designated by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education. The college's expansion into four-year degrees broadens its polytechnic emphasis on technology, engineering, and science, and it offers additional bachelor’s degrees and graduate programs on campus in cooperation with other North Dakota University System institutions. In 2026, BSC announced the launch of an XR room to advance manufacturing careers.
