The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank is a mid-sized nonprofit organization in the civic and social sector, based in Verona, Virginia, and founded in 1981. It is the largest organization dedicated to alleviating hunger in western and central Virginia and operates as a non-partisan, non-profit entity with a mission to improve food insecurity through fair access to nutritious food and resources that support health and well-being. The organization serves 25 counties and nine cities through distribution centers in Charlottesville, Lynchburg, Winchester, and Verona, distributing about 32 million pounds of food annually to roughly 170,000 people each month via a network of more than 400 partners, including food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, schools, churches, and other non-profit groups. Blue Ridge Area Food Bank is a partner of Feeding America, a national network of food banks. In 2025, Kari Jorgensen Diener was appointed chief executive officer.
