Boston Housing Authority (BHA) is a government agency based in Boston that administers affordable housing programs for residents of the city and surrounding area. It manages public housing and federal and state voucher subsidies, serving more than 58,000 residents and housing about 29,000 people under these programs. BHA owns and oversees roughly 12,623 rental units across 63 developments, including 36 elderly/disabled and 27 family developments. In addition to public housing, the agency administers Tenant-Based Section 8 vouchers and a parallel state program, enabling many households to contribute about 30-40 percent of income toward rent while BHA covers the remainder. As the largest public housing authority in New England, BHA pursues redevelopment and collaboration with partners, including projects like Building F in the Bunker Hill redevelopment in Charlestown and partnerships with external groups such as the AFL-CIO Housing Investment Trust.
