Humane Colorado, formerly the Dumb Friends League, is a long-established nonprofit in the animal welfare sector based in Denver, Colorado. For about 115 years, it has worked to end pet homelessness and animal suffering through direct services and advocacy. It operates as the region's largest community-based animal welfare organization, caring for more than 21,000 homeless pets and horses each year, and runs five facilities: two shelters—the Leslie A. Malone Center in Denver and the Buddy Center in Castle Rock—plus the Harmony Equine Center and the Veterinary Hospital at CSU Spur. Its work serves the public and pet owners by providing sheltering, adoptions, admissions, lost-and-found services, equine rehabilitation, and veterinary care for owned pets whose caretakers would otherwise lack access. In 2023, the organization expanded its regional outreach through a partnership with Larimer Humane Society to coordinate animal welfare efforts.
