Our Credit Union was originally chartered in 1972 by a small group of Dow Chemical employees. They were dedicated to building a financial institution that would provide outstanding financial services...at the lowest possible cost.

Essential CU is a community chartered Credit Union. Our field of membership includes the nine parishes of the Greater Baton Rouge Community! Now, anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in the following parishes may join Essential Credit Union: East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, West Feliciana, Ascension, Livingston, Iberville, Pointe Coupee, and St. Helena.
