Filofax is a well-known British brand that produces a range of personal organiser wallets. The company is part of the Letts Filofax Group with four locations in the UK, including a manufacturing facility near Edinburgh. The Filofax Group also consists of six owned subsidiaries in the UK, US, Germany, France, Italy & Scandinavia and also houses manufacturing offices in Hong Kong. Over 30 distributors around the world make up Filofax’s international markets. Filofax’s Chief Executive Officer is based at Letts in Dalkeith, Scotland, and the New Product Development studio together with the international team that manages the distributor network, are based in London’s Mayfair above the flagship store. Filofax has its own store in Central London, its flagship in Conduit Street located off Regent Street. The name originates from an abbreviation of the phrase "file of facts". This name for the product was first coined when the UK company was founded in 1921. The popularity of the Filofax personal organiser grew enormously during the early 1980s due to its association with Yuppie Culture, where it was regarded as a "must-have" accessory, in the days before electronic organisers. Today Filofax is still a recognised global brand with its logo symbolising quality, authenticity and innovation. In a fast paced world where people are constantly accessible via new technology, Filofax offers a balance, an escape, a private moment to capture thoughts and plans on paper.
