Globeleq develops and operates utility-scale power plants to support growth across Africa. The company was founded in 2002 and has built an international portfolio, now focusing its activities on the African continent. It is owned by CDC (70%) and Norfund (30%), and operates from its London head office with regional offices in Nairobi, Cape Town, and Douala. Globeleq's current footprint includes eight power plants in Tanzania, South Africa, Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon, and Kenya, generating about 1,300 MW, with roughly 2,000 MW in development. In 2026 Globeleq launched the Leopards Hill hybrid renewable energy project in Zambia.
