Hudson Valley Community College is a public higher education institution located in Troy, in the Capital Region of New York. Founded in 1953 and sponsored by Rensselaer County, it operates within the State University of New York system and is governed by a 10-member Board of Trustees. The college serves about 13,000 students each semester and maintains a sizable faculty base, with more than 630 full- and part-time instructors. It offers more than 80 degree and certificate programs across three schools—Business and Liberal Arts; Health Sciences; and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math—many of which are available online or in evening formats. In April 2026 HVCC announced a partnership with SUNY Geneseo to support an Honors Pathway program that provides a structured path for motivated students.
