The Indianapolis Zoo is a multidisciplinary cultural institution in Indianapolis, Indiana, combining a zoo, an aquarium, and a botanic garden. Opened in 1964 and situated in White River State Park since 1988, the 93-acre campus welcomes more than a million visitors each year. It houses roughly 1,300 animals in habitats designed to resemble their native regions and includes the 3.3-acre White River Gardens on site. It has achieved triple accreditation from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and the American Alliance of Museums as a zoo, an aquarium, and a botanic garden, reflecting its integrated scope within the industry. In March 2026, the zoo announced the Uproar Conservation Challenge, a new initiative intended to engage the public in conservation issues and action.
