NASHP is a nonpartisan forum for state policymakers to address health policy challenges by learning, leading, and implementing innovative solutions. Based in Portland, Maine, it brings together leaders from across executive and legislative branches to collaborate on problems and share solutions. The organization conducts policy analyses and research, disseminates information on state policies and programs, and provides technical assistance to states. As a mid-sized organization in the public policy arena, NASHP operates as a national resource that recognizes health care policy spans multiple state agencies and authorities. In February 2026 NASHP announced the launch of the Rural Primary Care Learning Network to increase access to primary care in rural communities.
