NUWC Keyport provides technical leadership, engineering expertise, and access to specialized facilities to sustain U.S. undersea warfare superiority. As one of two divisions of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, its mission is to develop and apply advanced capabilities to test, evaluate, field, and maintain undersea warfare systems and related defense assets. These capabilities support the full spectrum of Navy undersea programs and serve the U.S. Navy and allied militaries. The center is headquartered in Keyport, Washington, on Puget Sound, about 10 miles west of Seattle and just north of Bremerton, with detachments in Southern California and Hawaii, an operating site in Guam, and an office in Japan. Its facilities comprise over 2.3 million square feet of specialized technical facilities and nearly 2000 square nautical miles of undersea ranges, backed by a workforce of engineers, scientists, technicians, and industrial craftsmen.
