New Yorkers United for Justice is a New York-based non-profit coalition focused on criminal justice reform. It brings together more than a dozen local and national organizations active in public policy, civil rights, and legal advocacy. The group aims to address what it views as a system that unfairly targets low-income communities and communities of color, seeking reforms to improve safety and fairness. Based in New York City, the coalition operates as a relatively small team focused on policy proposals and public engagement. In December 2021 it launched a holistic legislative agenda and a Second Chance Agenda for New York aimed at reducing recidivism, cutting incarceration costs, and expanding reentry opportunities.
