Ngee Ann Polytechnic is a major higher education institution based in Singapore's Central Region, founded in 1963 as Ngee Ann College with 116 students. It now enrolls more than 13,000 full-time students and offers 36 full-time courses across nine academic schools. These schools span business and accountancy; design and environment; engineering; film and media studies; health sciences; humanities and interdisciplinary studies; information and communications technology; and life sciences and chemical technology. In addition to full-time programmes, NP runs the CET Academy to deliver part-time courses that support continuing education and workforce upskilling for workers across industries. The campus is equipped with facilities such as studios, research laboratories, and simulation and technology centres to support a broad-based, experiential learning environment. A recent development involves NP students developing an AI-driven rat detection and control system tested near garbage collection points.
