Ocean Networks Canada monitors Canada's east and west coasts and the Arctic, collecting real-time, open ocean data that support science, society, and industry. The organization gathers long-term, continuous ocean observations and provides free access to these data through Oceans 3.0, its online data management system. Based in Victoria, British Columbia, as an initiative of the University of Victoria, ONC studies interactions among the seafloor, ocean, and atmosphere, and sediment dynamics as part of its research focus. Its work supports researchers, policymakers, and industry partners who rely on timely data to address environmental and societal challenges. ONC is developing an earthquake early warning system for the Government of British Columbia. In 2023, Ocean Networks Canada launched five autonomous deep-sea Argo floats.
