The motto of the National Bowen Academy of Australia is, "every body is better with Bowen." There, it is used on the field by sports team trainers to help injured players get back in the game immediately, and to keep athletic performance levels high. At Oriens, clients often alternate Bowen and acupuncture for injury and pain rehabilitation, or for simple de-stress and relaxation. Bowen is also significant for internal health issues, fertility, relaxation and detoxification. Bowen is a gentle and non-invasive treatment that subtly moves muscles and connective tissue. Bowen results are often compared to chiropractic, yet there is no cracking or strong manipulation. Bowen feels more like energy work. Instead of "adjusting" the body, the light-touch cues request the body to adjust or "reset" itself. The course of treatment is usually much shorter than for chiropractic - just 1-5 sessions.
