The San Antonio Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit no-kill organization serving Bexar County and surrounding areas since 1952. It shelters, medically treats, and rehabilitates thousands of dogs and cats each year, with many arriving after abuse, surrender, or as strays, and it keeps every treatable pet until adoption or placement with another no-kill organization. Its programs include adoption, volunteering, fostering, spay/neuter, and education to promote responsible pet ownership. It operates as one of the largest dog and cat adoption organizations in San Antonio and helps address local pet overpopulation in a humane way. In September 2022, SAHS partnered with IMG Studio to create the video game Dog Dash to raise awareness of pet adoption.
