The San Jose Downtown Association (SJDA) is a non-profit, membership-based organization founded in 1986 to represent business and property owners working to improve downtown San Jose vitality and livability. It collaborates with its Property-Based Improvement District and Groundwerx to pursue ongoing improvements in cleanliness, security, aesthetics, and service delivery. It advocates on issues that affect downtown businesses and property owners, and it supports the development of parking, housing, and retail. Based in downtown San Jose, California, the organization provides day-to-day assistance to members and seeks to cut red tape and streamline processes. A central activity for SJDA is producing events that are fun, safe, and family-oriented to energize the urban core, supported by year-round marketing, public relations, and special events.
